I was really proud to help Marianna & Carlo with their special ecofriendly wedding last October. The bride and groom wanted a very casual party in the countryside with many friends ( more than 200!!!). So they chose the Park of the Mincio Rivalta (close to Mantua) as “their location”, a place rich in memories of their loved ones, a place of their scouting experience. There a marquee was mounted right next to the River.
The choice felt on the green theme, on plants and fruits, everything was natural and eco-friendly. In honor of the groom, who is a vegetarian, the bouquet was made with roses and artichokes, little apples were used as placeholders and the favor bags were made from recycled paper and hemp seeds. “The smallest of all seeds, that becomes a large tree where birds find shelter and nest” Marianna reminded us in a written note citing the Gospel.
The wedding banquet was prepared by the association Operazione Mato Grosso, an educational movement in Italy that involves children, youth and families to work during their free time to support eighty missions located in Peru, Bolivia, Equador and Brazil. The proceeds of the banquet would be sent to the missions of the volunteers who have chosen to live among the poor in Equador.
Last months Marianna and me met very often to discuss about small details and important stuff such as the trial of the wedding dress. It ‘was really nice to contribute to the creation of a such a special event and yet so simple.
A wedding in which all the guests have felt free to relax, women jumped off their heels to sit barefoot on the shore of the river, men could free themselves from suit and tie, children had the opportunity to run and play, dogs could be with their invited masters.
In a beautiful place surrounded by nature, emotions ran free along the river and all took part in the great joy of this really special couple.
