The Ideal Venues for a Destination Wedding in Spring on Lake Maggiore
We planned Sarah and Denis’s destination wedding in Spring across three stunning locations: Stresa, Isola Pescatori, and Villa Rusconi Clerici in Pallanza. These destinations, nestled along the shores of Lake Maggiore, offer an unparalleled experience for couples looking to tie the knot in Italy’s renowned lake district. In Spring, the region comes to life with vibrant blooms and perfect temperatures, ideal for both outdoor photos and joyous celebrations.
Getting Ready in Stresa
Sarah began her wedding day in the charming town of Stresa, known as the pearl of Lake Maggiore. She chose to get ready at the iconic Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées, one of the most romantic hotels in the region. Overlooking the serene waters of Lake Maggiore, this hotel has been a destination for poets, nobles, and writers since the 1800s. In fact, it was here that Ernest Hemingway penned part of A Farewell to Arms. Sarah’s bridal suite, adorned with gold accents and rich velvets, was the perfect backdrop as she prepared for her big day, surrounded by her bridesmaids and family.
Dressed in an elegant white gown, Sarah stepped into the hotel’s grand hall, her bouquet of white flowers perfectly complementing her bridal look. Her bridesmaids wore soft mint green dresses, while the flower girls looked simply adorable.
A Catholic Ceremony on Isola Pescatori
The bridal party took a motorboat to Isola Pescatori, one of the famous Borromeo Islands on Lake Maggiore. This small, charming island is known for its quaint fisherman’s village and is home to the picturesque Church of San Vittore, the setting for Sarah and Denis’s Catholic wedding ceremony. A destination wedding in Spring on Lake Maggiore feels especially romantic here, as the island is surrounded by tranquil waters and lush natural beauty.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds wandered through the cobbled streets of Isola Pescatori for a romantic photoshoot, with stunning views of the neighboring Isola Bella and its grand palace.
A Boat Ride to Villa Rusconi Clerici for the Reception
After the ceremony, the bride, groom, and their guests boarded a boat to travel to the reception at Villa Rusconi Clerici, one of the top venues for a destination wedding in Spring on Lake Maggiore. Located in Pallanza, this historic villa is renowned for its magnificent gardens, which burst into bloom in the Spring, creating a dreamy backdrop for weddings. Its elegant spaces combine Italian charm with scenic views of the lake and the surrounding Borromeo Islands.
Arriving at the villa’s private pier, guests were greeted by the sprawling lawns that extend down to the lake. The reception began with aperitifs — Prosecco, Aperol Spritz – and Italian beers—alongside delectable canapés, local cheeses, and cold cuts, as guests mingled by the water’s edge. Villa Rusconi Clerici’s tranquil and exclusive setting allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Maggiore.
A Dreamy Wedding Dinner and Fireworks on the Lake
As the sun set, the celebration moved indoors to the villa’s pavilion, where guests were welcomed by elegant white tables adorned with fragrant white flowers. The romantic ambiance set the stage for the couple’s grand entrance. Wedding speeches flowed as the guests savored delicious Italian cuisine. For dessert, a spectacular wedding cake made of Italian chocolate stole the show.
Before the dancing and DJ set began, Sarah and Denis were treated to a magical surprise: a display of romantic fireworks over the shimmering waters of Lake Maggiore. It was a picture-perfect ending to an unforgettable destination wedding in Spring on Lake Maggiore—simple, romantic and truly dreamy.
